Loyola March, April '03

Program for Loyola Marymount University, April, 2003.
Wherein we staged a minor invasion of the campus on behalf of the Classics Department and Prof. Arick Greenberg's theological history class.

Traianus, at far left, portrays a Dacio-Germanic barbarian; the rest of us are wondering if all our enemies are as big as this guy!

Mandata captate! (Attention!)

Darius and Tyranus use a handy faculty office to get suited up.

Escottius Hibernius (Scott Timmons), our guest FCG ("Fourth Century Guy"), confers with Scaevola and Drusus before the presentation.

Romans attempt to figure out how to negotiate the strange, ascending staircase...

Prepare to repel cavalry!

With Diogenes boldly in the lead, the column sets forth to conquer the campus.

More marching...

Ah, grass!

Nice view of Darius' loculus (marching pack).

The FCG (Fourth Century Guy) sort of stands out, doesn't he?

Students display delight... er, shock and awe, at the Roman invasion. Note that we're all in step!

Flavius is unable to resist lofting a pilum at the faculty offices. Note the perfect form!

Hey, they call this an atrium? Doesn't look like mine back home...

Nice close formation, guys. Just watch the points of those pila...

Hibernius prepares to let loose with his verutum, a late Roman version of the pilum.

Dirige frontem ("dress the ranks").

New (foreground) and old versions of the Newstead cuirass. Dio, holding the vexillum, wears his reconstruction of M.C. Bishop's version, while Scaevola wears the simpler Robinson version.

L. Scottius Hibernius (with Flavius).

Postumus Decimus Scaevola stands at laxate (parade rest). He wears the H. Russell Robinson version of the Newstead cuirass.
